In 2013, Karen Gonzalez-Torres founded Helping Hands Resource Center (HHRC) with a vision to create a safe haven for individuals and families affected by domestic violence, abuse, and trauma. As a survivor herself, Karen recognized the lack of compassionate, trauma-informed services available to those in need. She was inspired to establish HHRC as a place where survivors could find support, resources, and hope on their journey to healing.
Under Karen’s leadership, HHRC has grown into a vital resource for the community, offering services such as violence prevention programs, advocacy, and support for those in crisis. Karen’s personal experiences and professional expertise have shaped the organization’s approach, ensuring every individual who walks through HHRC’s doors feels heard, supported, and empowered.
Through Helping Hands Resource Center, Karen continues to live out her mission of providing a safe space where survivors can rebuild their lives with dignity, compassion, and resilience.
